Jahnel Group
At a Glance
Jahnel Group is a ~150-person custom software development firm. They build enterprise software, mobile apps, and AI-powered products for clients ranging from startups to companies like Google, Disney, and Warner Bros. As a Product Designer, I embedded directly within client teams to own the full design lifecycle, including research, user flows, prototyping, design systems, development handoff, and post-launch iteration, while managing multiple concurrent engagements.
Aptihealth
Behavioral Healthcare Platform · Responsive Web & iOS · 2020–2022
Aptihealth is a Series B startup providing fully online behavioral therapy and psychiatric care. I was embedded with their product team for over two years, working alongside their product designer, PMs, developers, and senior leadership including their CTO and Chief Clinical Officer. I designed features across patient-facing and clinician-facing areas of the platform, led the creation of a design system, wrote engineering tickets, and collaborated with developers in an agile workflow.
Featured Project: Child Registration
I led the design of a registration process for minors (ages 12–17) to access behavioral care, a high-stakes initiative involving legal compliance, parental consent, and a tight customer-driven deadline. Employees had been spending hours daily manually registering children, and the platform needed to automate it at scale.
After researching competitive platforms, consulting with legal, interviewing internal stakeholders and referring practitioners, I explored two user flow options and recommended the approach that gave parents and children separate accounts, preserved therapist-child message privacy, and could be built within two sprints. I prototyped 26 screens in Figma, ran frequent feedback sessions with stakeholders, created Jira tickets, and supported the dev team through deployment.
Post-launch, we set up research channels through intake specialists, the support team, and Google Analytics. We discovered that 50% of users dropped off at the first page and parents were confused by legal agreements and being labeled as patients. We simplified agreements, clarified copy, added pre-registration content to the website, and doubled intake session length.
Results
- 80+ children registered; 60%+ advanced into regular care
- 100% retention after starting regular sessions
- 15% of parents began receiving care themselves
- Eliminated hours of daily manual operations work
- Successfully expanded to iOS with native design adaptations
Art Gallery Platform
Enterprise Web & iOS · 2019–2020 · NDA: Client Name Withheld
The client was a prestigious global art gallery headquartered in NYC with six international locations. Their legacy software could no longer support their operations: inventory, sales, contacts, events, and team management all needed a ground-up rebuild.
I was the sole designer, responsible for the full design phase: on-site stakeholder interviews, competitive analysis, user personas, user flows, wireframes, high-fidelity designs for web and iOS, interactive prototypes, and a comprehensive specifications document for development handoff. Regular feedback sessions with gallery staff surfaced critical edge cases around permissions, data relationships, and the need for long-term extensibility.
The application was developed, fully replaced the gallery’s legacy system, and rolled out to employees across all locations. By completing a thorough design phase first, all major functionality issues were avoided during the build.
